How far in advance should I place my order?

It is never too early to book! Typically we book up to 3 to 6 months in advance in off-peak wedding season and 12 to 18 months in advance for peak wedding season.

Do you have a minimum order requirement?

Yes. There is a $600 minimum order requirement for peak wedding season (May-October) and a $500 minimum order requirement for non-peak wedding season (November-April)

Where are you located?

All of our baking is done in a private, fully insured kitchen (just north of Grain Valley) but we host our cake tastings in our Lee's Summit studio once a month.

How many flavors can we choose?

Each order automatically comes with two flavors of your choice but you are welcome to add more flavors if you'd like! If you request more than two flavors off of our menu (including all tiered cakes, sheet cakes, cupcakes, etc), there is an additional $20 charge per extra cake flavor.

What should I expect Blue Thistle Cakes to taste like?

All of our cakes are made from scratch. With butter being a staple around here, you’ll find that our cakes tend to be very tender, moist and a little less sweet. We make all of our cakes with with the highest quality ingredients that we can get our hands!

Do you deliver?

Yes! Delivery and set up within the Kansas City metro starts at $75, but we deliver up to an hour and a half away at an additional charge.

Do you offer faux cake options if we're wanting a taller cake?

YES!! If you're wanting to make a statement but don't necessarily need all of the servings from a large tiered cake, this is a great option!

Do you provide fresh flowers for the cake?

We do not provide fresh floral for the cake but typically you will order those through your florist and we will place the flowers on the cake upon arrival.

Do you offer cake stand rentals?

Unfortunately we don't offer cake stand rentals as returns are quite difficult with not having a storefront with regular store hours. However, we're more than happy to suggest some of our favorite places to purchase a stand.
